DNS and BIND (5th Edition)
by Cricket Liu, Paul Albitz
Amazon Price: $31.49
Customer Review: This book is a good in-depth resource for anyone who wants a very comprehensive understanding of DNS hosting and troubleshooting. You can use it as a reference, reading sections as you need them, or read it cover to cover. I've opted for the former and am about half-way through. So, far I've read about things I've never been able to find good information for on the web. Keep up the good work!

The Domain Game
by David Kesmodel
Amazon Price: $21.59
Customer Review: A well written book on domainers and their passion-Domaining. The book is surely Captivating, Mesmerizing, and Mind-Blowing. The book details about how these domainers BELIEVED in themselves and more importantly BELIEVED in their PASSION. Incredible stories of some very ordinary folks...The book details a great description about how these domainers risked every thing they literally owned like Fran...

DNS on Windows Server 2003
by Cricket Liu, Matt Larson, Robbie Allen
Amazon Price: $29.55
Customer Review: This book gets very indepth about DNS. It's dry and very technical making it a hard and boring read. I don't recommend this book for the newbie. You really should have some general knowledge about the subject before buying this book.

The explanations throughout the book are difficult to follow and can be confusing. It could of been better written with a simplified approach.

DNS for Dummies
by Blair Rampling, David Dalan
Amazon Price: $16.49
Customer Review: I have read a few in the "Dummies" series and found them to be very good, but not as high level as the titles would suggest. This book is, however, very high level. It is very basic. If you know nothing about DNS, this is the book for you. If you have a basic understanding of DNS, then I would not recommend this book.

Pro DNS and BIND (Pro)
by Ron Aitchison
Amazon Price: $31.07
Customer Review: This is by far the best book available on DNS. It is very informative and yet the reading style is entertaining (not fluffy though). Overall, it is a joy to read. The author is able to communicate effectively to both the expert and the novice. Look no further than here for a great DNS reference book. Way to go Ron Aitchison!

DNS & BIND Cookbook
by Cricket Liu
Amazon Price: $23.07
Customer Review: This is one of those books for people what play around with webservers and DNS. There are more uptodate books now so only worth getting second hand.
It explains the topics in a very accessible way for anyone taking on the sys admin/network admin role.

Paris Stories (New York Review Books Classics)
by Mavis Gallant
Amazon Price: $10.17
Customer Review: "Paris Stories" is an amazing collection of short stories by Mavis Gallant, who is best known for her work in "The New Yorker." The 15 stories in this collection are all set in Europe, and they offer memorable characters, humorous observations, witty commentary, and brilliant prose. Gallant's writing style is very rich, unique, and beautiful. In the afterword of the book, Gallant herself recommend...

At the Edge of Empire: The Backcountry in British North America (Regional Per...
by Eric Hinderaker, Peter C. Mancall
Amazon Price: $17.05
Customer Review: When an American thinks of the frontier of history, modern day Ohio, Kentucky and the Appalachian mountains are hardly the first thing that comes to mind. When a British subject thinks of the effects of the nation's past in Ireland or Scotland, dealings with Cherokees or Mohawks hardly come to mind. But Professor's Hinderaker and Mancall make the case in their comprehensive yet concise story about...

Mammals of the Great Lakes Region: Revised Edition (Great Lakes Environment)
by Allen Kurta
Amazon Price: $14.21
Customer Review: One of the first things I learned from "Mammals of the Great Lakes Region" is not to chase away the woodchuck that has made its den (actually its 'plunge hole') right beneath my bedroom window. It may gnaw occasionally on the deck, but if it abandons its burrow, Professor Kurta opines that a skunk is likely to take up residence.

Plus it's fun to watch the woodchuck amble across the lawn, chom...

DNS on Windows 2000
by Matt Larson, Cricket Liu
Amazon Price: $26.37
Customer Review: If you know nothing about DNS this book can help get you started in addition to providing very specific info on administering DNS under Win2k. This is about as easy as DNS under Win2k is going to get so it winds up highlighting just how confusing and sometimes byzantine Micro$oft's implementation of DNS can be.
It's best to use this book BEFORE you create a DNS server but in my case it helped m...

Clearly, before you can publish your website you will have to think of an appropriate name. You should do this early in the process, as it is quite likely that the first name that you think of will already be taken.

Domain registrars will let you see if your chosen name is available. Most Domain Registration companies will also tell you if other top level domain names are available such as, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us, .tv. Other Domain Registration companies will provide you with a list of similar available domain names if your original choice is not available.

When choosing a domain name it is always a good idea to choose a name that is relevant to the content of your site and to make it as easy to remember as possible and also as easy as possible for people to spell.
